HOME > HOUSE
At our South Hills campus I recently taught from Ephesians 4 that you are designed by God to experience not just a HOUSE but a HOME. A few people asked for an audio copy and some notes.

The longing for a home is universal. We all long for home. You have your own story of home. Whether you moved frequently or not at all. Whether you lived in home of peace or significant brokenness. In all of us is this struggle to realize and protect a sense of home.
You are created to experience not just a HOUSE… but a HOME
> BUILDING A HOME
Ephesians 4:16: From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work
In the original Greek the word we translate as “build” is the word “oikodome.” The root of the word is “oikos” which means “home” or “household.” It would be used to talk about all the individuals who made up a family. Paul tells us that Jesus isn’t building a HOUSE but an “oikodome” or HOME. The best definition of Church is not a house but rather a HOME.
Though community is forever DISSOLVING in our world it’s forever being BUILT in the Church.
>AS YOU DO THE WORK
- OPEN YOUR HANDS (Families aren't equal)
- OPEN DIALOGUE (Families are honest)
- OPEN CALENDARS (Families have chore charts)
Home is where the CHURCH is. And YOU are the Church.
